About Bespoke Ordering
What if I want Martha to create a completely unique piece of jewelry?
Please contact Martha at martha@marthaseely.com or call her at 617-899-2162 to discuss what you are interested in creating.
There are many costs associated with a custom designed piece of jewelry. Each job is different but the pricing process is the same. Inevitably the stones, or centerpiece gem may be the top cost of a custom jewelry design, then the actual creation is made around that stone or stones, and the size you select. We usually recommend you purchase the main gem or diamond from us first and then we work closely with you to design the jewelry for your taste, desire and budget.
Here are COST details for a typical DESIGN (every job is different):
Materials
Metals/Golds: $1795/oz; $57.65/gram
Silver $25/oz $1.50/gram
NOTE: We do take Trade Ins of Gold, so if you give us 10 grams of good gold we can use it in your job and you would not be charged for 10 grams otherwise if your gold is mixed and not good quality we can trade “scrap value” typically $10 to $15 per gram thus offsetting your costs by that amount. Not all gold is the same.
Diamonds 1pt-9pt (0.01ct 0.09ct) Rounds
H I Si2 $900/ct
G H Si1 $1200/ct
G/H VS $1500/ct
F G VVS $2000/ct
*All very fine cuts, quantity will get more discounts.
Diamonds over 0.10cts 0.20cts from $1000/ct – $1750/ct. Bigger stones quoted upon request with EGL or GIA certificate.
Certified Diamonds available from 1/4ct on up we will still be very competitive in ANY diamond.
Labor
Initial Design Wax Carving $100-200 depending on the complexity.
CAD/CAM minimum $500 for the 3D design and $100 for wax or plastic ready to cast.
Mold Making $100
Waxes $150 to $200
Casting $200 on up. Platinum $500
Finishing $159-300
Stone Setting Pave or Bead Set Small Stones $10 per stone, emeralds $15 per stone
Bezel Setting $50 per stone
Channel Work $50 per hour
Prong Set Small Stones $8/stone
Prong Set Larger Stones, Diamonds, Tanzanites $150 to $300 per karat
Metal Fabrication versus Wax — Mold —Cast Techniques $65/hour Gold and Silver
Final Polishing $80 to $100 per job
Total Cost will be a combination of Design Labor, Metal Costs, Stone Costs, Setting Costs, Finishing/Polishing and actual construction whether it be wax to cast, CAD or hand fabrication. When we quote a job usually from a basic discussion we can get close but will never have the final cost until it is done so many times we will say “under $500” that means it will NOT be over that unless someone changes the design process, and many times it will be less, but we will always keep you in the design loop so there are no surprises and you get the special design you want at the cost you budget.
Returns and Repairs
How do I return an item?
If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase you may return it for refund within seven days upon delivery receipt, provided that it is not a customized or made to order piece. If you have any reservation regarding purchasing a made to order item, we request that you contact us prior to placing your order. Items that are in stock and ready to ship that require no customization or sizing may be returned. If you purchased a made to order piece and there is a (highly unlikely) flaw in manufacturing (handcrafting), please contact us immediately upon receipt so we may resolve the problem. Please note that if you cancel a made to order item, it must be within 3 business days of placing your order to receive a full refund. Any made to order item that is cancelled beyond 3 business days will be refunded the purchase amount less 50% to offset the designer’s production cost.
Please notify us via email stating the reason for your return. Your item must be packaged carefully and shipped back with tracking and full insurance as we cannot be responsible for returns that are lost or damaged by the shipper. We do not offer refunds on shipping. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Once received your refund will be processed, typically within 24-48 hours. Refunds can only be issued to the credit card used for payment. Please note that your refund may take several days to over a week before posting to your credit card or bank. If you feel your refund has been delayed, please contact your bank prior to contacting us, as they will be able to confirm a pending refund. We do not accept returns on items that are worn or damaged, nor do we accept returns on made to order items that have been customized (including rings). Exception is in the rare event that error was made on a customization (i.e. ring size). If that is the case, we will rectify it immediately. If your item was a gift, and it is returned, refund is made to the purchaser. Unfortunately we cannot offer shop credit.
My item arrived damaged, what should I do?
In this unlikely occurrence, please retain all packaging and shipping materials and notify us immediately upon receipt. We will assist you with damage claims caused by the shipper. In the highly unlikely event your actual jewelry arrives damaged, you must contact us immediately with a date stamped photograph and explanation of the damage. We will make arrangements to rectify the situation immediately.
Please contact us for any repair inquiry. We prefer to quote you a specific repair cost once we physically receive the item.
